Bristol Craft Beer Festival 2018

Last weekend, the city was host to over 40 of the worlds best craft breweries for this year's Bristol Craft Beer festival, organised by the good folks at We Are Beer.

Guest blog by: Henrik Thom.

Bristol is a great city. One of England's most historic sites, it is known for being proudly independent and artistic with a top University and world class museum. It has tonnes to offer for visitors.

Foodies can enjoy everything from Michelin starred restaurants to outstanding street food, and for the music fans amongst us, Bristol boasts an underground music scene that has had a vital impact on British culture over the past 30 years.

Bristol is also pretty good at beer! And, in recent years has become home to some of the UK's most exciting breweries, including Left Handed Giant, Lost and Grounded, Wiper & True, Arbor Ales, Good Chemistry and Moor to name a few! Not to mention the awesome Wild Beer Co restaurant located in the new developments on the harbour.

The three day festival kicked of on Friday afternoon and after a brief downpour of rain, the sun appeared and it was time to meet the teams behind Bristol's best restaurants, bars and bottle shops. Shortly after, the doors opened to the public and what followed was one of the most enjoyable evenings at a beer festival in recent memory.

With so much good beer to choose from and a ridiculously relaxed atmosphere, it was a great start to the weekend, with Bristol demonstrating how it earned its reputation as a friendly and chilled out place. After day one, a quick pint (or two) followed at the legendary Small Bar on King St and then it was power nap time, ready for day two.

As anticipated, Saturday was a much busier day with huge crowds bursting to get into the venue. Defying the unseasonably amazing weather, word of our Chipotle Porter started to spread fast! What's great about these festivals is the enthusiasm of the crowd, which is infectious and really makes you feel fortunate to be a part of this scene.

In the evening, it was time for our much-anticipated Spontan Quadruple Blueberry, which lasted maybe an hour. It was awesome to meet so many beer lovers who had been excited to try this beer all weekend. Thanks to those who waited for your patience!

Again, another post festival pit stop at small bar, and ready for day three.
During a pretty chilled Sunday afternoon session, the sun was out again and we were pouring our Beer Geek Breakfast Stout, Cocoa Shake! Perfect for the weather, right? Well, it was! Again, word of mouth spread fast, with many visitors coming back for more and claiming it was their favourite beer of the festival.
